In the 10th year of Yongping of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the monks from the Western region, Shengmoteng and Zhu Fan, carried the scriptures on white horses to Luoyang, and in the following year, they built a temple named after the white horses. During the reign of Empress Wu, the temple was named after the White Horse. When the Empress Wu was in power, she rejected Taoism and honored Buddhism, and built hundreds of buildings and thousands of monks and disciples to make the temple the size it is today. Fifteen years ago, the White Horse Temple was robbed by nine thieves from Dongshan Mountain, who stole countless treasures of Buddha.
